What's an... Hacker?
An hacker is "a person who delights in having an intimate understanding of the internal workings of a system, computers and computer networks in particular. The term is often misused in a pejorative context, where cracker would be the correct term". RFC-1392
Wanna be an Hacker?
The standard approach to the teaching of cybersecurity, where an attack is shown to the student, doesn't fit with the hacker culture; it doesn't generate "the pleasure of finding things out". Why? Because an intimate understanding comes at the cost of TRYING, of breaking and fixing.
What is Cybersecurity?
Nobody knows. Everyone wants a secure system but it's hard to understand what this means. Some questions that concerns cybersecurity experts are: how do one proves her identity? Do we trust an ID? The system that issued that ID? Is cybersecurity just coming to terms with the notion of trust?
